We gladly reserve a baby of your choice upon receipt of a non-refundable 50% deposit. Babies are weaned at about 8-10 weeks of age. All Thunderbirds are handfed and socialized. We adopt out AFTER they relocate from heated nursery enclosure to the transitional cage which is 10 x 12 x 16 and are eating well on their own for a minimum of 2 weeks. Transitioning affects different species different ways. Each bird is an individual. If adopting a parrotlet and have a LARGE cage, a small cage would be better initially. A few toys are appreciated. Comfy perches and perches of varying widths recommended so the birds feet can get exercise too. HORIZONTAL cages are the best. NOT vertical. Parrotlets prefer a 30"
length environment. Plenty of room. Horizontal cages also provide more area to hang and toys and exercise for the baby.
We ship M-T on any given week, weather permitting. Exceptions sometimes are possible.
Our courier is Delta Airlines. Birds are received at your local airport's Delta Cargo Facility. If shipping, an itinerary will be emailed to you. You can use the air waybill number to track the baby's whereabouts 'en route to you. All paperwork will be attached to the bottom of the Sky Kennel in s plastic sleeve.
WE DO NOT SHIP VIA USPS. It is illegal. Only water fowl, some pheasants and poultry are authorized. See below:
Birds are not like most creatures as they have DONT HAVE A RESERVE OF BODY WEIGHT. They eat and immediately metabolize their food. After our baby leaves our hands, there's not much we can do. You have a 24 hour window to see an AVIAN CERTIFIED VET. All Tbirds are healthy when leaving the aviary.
There would be no reason for a vet visit. It can actually traumatize some individuals. We have a closed aviary meaning no outside birds coming in. Therefore our risk factor is minimal. We are NOT brokers.
